Today’s daily encouragement (8-22-16) – Looking in the Mirror

Today’s daily encouraging bible verse:

“You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.”

Matthew 7:5

Today’s daily encouraging song:

Jon Foreman- mirror is harder to hold

Today’s challenge for the believer:

Today’s challenge is to stare your sins straight in the face. Today’s focus is on you. Sometimes these challenges are about going out and sharing the gospel or encouraging others, but today’s is all about taking the time to look at your own faith.

So often as Christians we go out and judge others for all of the bad things that they are doing, but we forget to look into our own lives and fix the things that we are doing wrong. Life and seeing we’re not meant to be a comparison thing. It’s not about all I’m so much better than this person because I don’t do what they do. It’s about what you do wrong and right. Jesus talked about this in the Bible verse that we used for today. He asked us to take the log out of our own eye before pointing out the speck in someone else’s.

Today’s challenges simple, do not judge anyone else, but instead look in the mirror and be honest to your own sin. Work on yourself today.

Acknowledge the sins that you have committed, bring them to God. Ask for his forgiveness. Begin to work towards eliminating that sin in your life. Again it’s not about focusing on other peoples sin but on the sin in our own lives. We are all sinners. As Paul said, “ we’re all sinners and I’m the worst of them.”. This was Paul talking. Possibly one of the greatest Christians of all time. If he thought that he was not good enough, then we should be quick to remember where we stand.

We are so lucky that we serve a God who loves us so much that he allows us to be forgiven no matter what. Take advantage of that. Come to God with your sin and give it to him. He made the Ultimate sacrifice so that you could do that.

God bless
